Dave has been out of range the last two days

Dave has been out of contact for 2 days he has just crossed into Utah and completed a grueling 80 mile plus ride. He will be updating Sunday hopefully and taking a much needed day of rest
mean while here is a set of new pictures.

Our digs in Ely Nevada...and home of the worlds fattest chihuahua

One more backdated pic from Kirkwood California....killmore and the wildman with our bro coop serving up the killer breakfast burritos....(Shaka!) coop your the man

The man

Backdate pic from the Sierra Nevadas

Finally in Ely where we met the worlds fattest Chihuahua....he didn't walk....he waddled :(

Cop diverting traffic after pretty bad smashup

The wildman in front of an old homestead...no markings of any kind...30 mi in between any town

"The road streches like a river to the sky" words of my old mentor Clarance

Now moving on 77 mi to Ely Nevada..no services the whole way.

The general store leaving Eureka on the East...Classic.

Owl Saloon....I had seven drinks this night by accident...it made the 77 mi ride to Ely extra special...the wildman thought this was hilarious as I had earlier goaded him about eating all the peanut butter. Lesson learned;)

Support your local 4 H. Cool:)

Survival guide for highway 50 and pony express matchess both found at the courthouse.

Camping in the local park...super nice grass and facilities..turns out eureka is a very prosperous mining town...paying more tax per capita then Las Vegas

Cool sculpture out front of Raine's local market... Eureka Nevada

I can't believe I ate the whole thing:)

We arrive in Eureka and the always thrifty wildman eats most of a jar of PB for lunch.....he paid for it:)

We made it

Leaving Austin and hitting our first official switchback...this was a lung burner.

Arriving in Austin we visit the local hardware store...ahhh cleanup on aisle 1 :)

Fellow adventure cyclist heading west we met bill at the 30 mi mark between Middlegate and Austin.

They told me this was the drunk tank for customers who had too much fun. Seriously

This stretch of highway 50 is famous because it was an old section if the pony express it runs. Between middle gate and Austin Nevada. This is a pin on my handlebar bag

Giant Earth mover...we are in gold country...giant mines in the area

He warned us to pull over and bet off the road....good thing:)

Saying goodbye to new friends from middlegate
In this photo: travis, bill, craig, tracy

Middlegate station no services in either direction for 70 mi.

They told me later to make sure to check for black widows before you use the out- house...thanks guys:)
